About OFO Young Birders

OFO Young Birders is for people up to age 18 who are interested in learning more about Ontario’s birds. You do not need to have experience or identification skills -- just a keen interest in learning and meeting other young birders.

After a 2-year gap, we are once again planning in-person events!

What we do?

We offer field trips and workshops especially for young birders. Among our most popular events are the annual look behind the scenes at the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto and the Canada Jay Weekend in Algonquin Park in April.

Our week-long summer camp for teen birders in Algonquin Park is a unique opportunity to learn from expert birders and to experience all aspects of Algonquin Park nature, including wolf howls and mothing.

How old do I need to be to attend events?

Most of our events are for birders of any age. Any age limits are noted in the event description. We require birders under the age of 14 to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The summer camp is for teens only.

How do I join?
